Case Study 02

This client has had an operation on their prostate leaving them with some lymph nodes removed. As a result of this has left the left calf and ankle with oedema.

Working with this client on a weekly basis for one hour, focusing on the legs and feet practically the left leg. Due to the condition of the legs when I first was introduced the left calf in particular was solid to the touch.

The first thing I did with this client was to talk to them on the importance of exercise of the legs and the importance of getting compression stockings that fitted correctly. Having the right amount of pressure for this client.

With the knowledge of elevating legs to allow the blood flow to effectively return to the body, I ask the client to get a horizontal bike know as (recumbent trike). The client was very proactive in using this trike and was able to get the lymph moving again. On top of this was asking how much water they were drinking and asked them increase to two liters per day, this allowed the lymph to become more fluid.
With the massage I used lymphatic drainage techniques as well as myofascial technique as well, this got the lymph moving and again used various pressure to loosen the muscle, the muscle became more pliable and able to work deeper. Again used black pepper, lavender, bergamot essential oils to get the circulatory system working, used also hot stones to warm up the legs and torso.

As a result of continued treatments the left leg is slightly larger than the right but he colour of both calves are the same. At the age of 74 this client is still active working on his car and able to lead a full active lifestyle. The client can now enjoy a full body treatment where all the muscles are soft and supple.
