Case Study 01

My client is a retired Dr.

With restricted movement from knee surgery on both knees. The walking gate affected and due to lack of feeling in the feet, meant the client was often leaning forward to look down at the feet to see where foot placement was being placed.

A weekly one-hour massage working on the whole body for two years. Firstly, I focused on the tight muscles on the feet, calves, glutes, back, shoulders and neck. Using deep tissue techniques combined with a sports massage. Asking the muscle to comply with the pressure being used and often using deeper pressure where stubborn muscle would not budge, this continued for the first six weeks and slowly the body was responding to my treatments.

As not to make the treatments completely remedial one used a complex aromatherapy oils to soothe aching muscles and allow the nervous system to relax. This was accompanied with hot stones to soften and soothe muscles with increased blood flow through the muscles.

Once the muscles in the legs, glutes, back and shoulders started to go back to their regular tension, the body started to correct itself with a natural upright posture. I then focused more on the feet as these were tight as a result of a lot of walking and incorrect foot placement. With the feet starting to spread out and able to feel the floor, correct foot placement taking place, the client’s posture started to take shape as they started to walk with a stride instead of a shuffle.

With this client I used deep tissue, sports massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, hot stones and Pilates alignment. To allow the client to get back to their old self, as a result the client is able to enjoy their dog walking and gardening.
